Our Story

Start

In June 1962, members of seven families gathered at a private home in Mexico, PA for home Bible study seeking to start a solid Bible-believing and gospel-preaching church. By late fall of 1962, First Baptist Church was formed and meetings were held in the old schoolhouse in Mt. Pleasant. On September 9, 1964, a meeting was held for the purpose of organizing an official church. The name of First Baptist Church of Juniata County was chosen and a church constitution was agreed upon. February 2, 1965, was the "Incorporation for the church", as First Baptist Church of Juniata County.

Journey

Through the years, the Lord has blessed us with many faithful pastors who have held to the truth of the Bible. From the first pastor, Cecil Palm through Robert Miller, Robert Westerberg, David Wrigglesworth, and Ronald Shupe, each in his own way was an uncompromising man of God. With these shepherds guiding the congregation, God has blessed. This brought another building program in 1986 that is now our present facility. Then in 2002 construction began on our Family Ministry Center and it was completed in the spring of 2003.

Today

The church continues with its strong discipleship and missionary outreach, promoting the Good News of the gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
